Bible Verse of the Day: 2 Corinthians 1:3-7

Before you read today's favorite Bible verse, I would like to briefly give you a background of this book.

Background of the Book: 2 Corinthians is a letter written from Paul to the church in the city of Corinth. Before he wrote 2 Corinthians, Paul wrote 1 Corinthians, the first book written to that particular church.

So, to continue the series ....

2 Corinthians 1:3-7

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ's sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.

Verse 3 -- Paul blesses the God & Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Why? Because He is the Father of mercies and God of all comfort!

Verse 4 -- Does God only comfort us in one trial of hardship? No! This verse clearly states that God comforts us in ALL of our AFFLICTIONS!

Verse 5 -- Let your friends and family members know of your sufferings. When you do this, you also share with them your comfort too.

Verse 6 -- This verse shows us that comfort and salvation come from affliction. You'll experience comfort when you patiently endure the SAME sufferings of others.

Verse 7 -- talks about unshaken hope for the Corinthians. It also reviews what verse 5 & 6 say.

How to apply these verses:
Praise God for comforting us in all of our afflictions. Share with others your sufferings, and they will probably share with you their trials and hardships. Pray for them. Paul says that when we share in our sufferings, we also share in our comfort.
