Explore Ruth With Me!

Today, I'd love for you to explore the book of Ruth with me to further study the Bible!

In the first 5 verses of Ruth, it explains how a woman named Naomi (nay-oh-me) becomes a widow, with only her 2 daughters-in-law. It's very sad, but the kindness of one daughter-in-law (Ruth) is a lesson for us to pay attention to.

Let's read Ruth 1:8-10 below in bold.

Then Naomi said to her two daughters-in-law, “Go back! Each of you should go back to your mother’s home. May the Lord be as kind to you as you were to me and to our loved ones who have died. May the Lord repay each of you so that you may find security in a home with a husband.” When she kissed them goodbye, they began to cry loudly. They said to her, “We are going back with you to your people.”

Naomi then tells them "no" again, and Orpah (the other daughter-in-law besides Ruth) leaves. But Ruth stays with her mother-in-law. This is an act of kindness because Ruth shows compassion and love to her widowed mother-in-law, Naomi. What a sweet thing to do! And you know what? By staying with Naomi, Ruth gets blessed: she meets and marries her new husband, Boaz.

And what's even more amazing is that Boaz & Ruth's great-grandchild is David, and David is in the line of Jesus.

This is what Ruth 4:21-22 says:

Salmon fathered Boaz, Boaz fathered Obed, Obed fathered Jesse, and Jesse fathered David.
