DR Trip 2015 | Part 4: Gideon and Monument

On Tuesday, June 23, 2015, we woke up

and ate breakfast at our hotel.

At the hotel, they gave us a Spanish version of the menu
and an English version of the menu.
This is what the menu looked like!
We chose pancakes, eggs with ham, and bacon!
It was delicious!!

To start our day off, we hopped in a bus,

riding for about 15 minutes to the Gideon Home, 

where boys from age 3-13 years old live.

I thoroughly enjoyed playing with the

3-year-old boys.

This boy has a cute smile!

He loves wearing sunglasses!

The lunch that we had at Gideon was
so delicious! It consisted of flavorful chicken,
potatoes, green beans, carrots.
If I went to DR again, I would definitely eat this again!

After we ate lunch with the Gideon boys

and played games with them, Carlos took

us on a tour of the city of Santiago.

We got to see a famous monument

where they honor DR soldiers.

Since we got there right after they closed,

we weren't able to go inside the monument.

But I loved walking around the monument

and learning more about the DR history

from our tour guide for the day, Carlos.

It's such a beautiful monument, isn't it?
We actually bought a postcard with
a picture of this monument on it!

After we got a tour of Santiago, we ate a restaurant
where we tried mofongo for the first time!
It was so good!

Overall, this was a fabulous Dominican dish!
